A Chocolate Workshop
includes tastings and a free chocolate bar!
Learn the process of growing, harvesting, fermenting and drying cacao… and how to make delectable chocolate! If you have ever been curious about what is involved in making chocolate, you will love this seminar! Like a fine wine, there is an art to making fine chocolate. We will cover how to make chocolate, the surprising difference between tempered and untempered chocolate, and what to look for when tasting chocolate. The workshop includes videos to illustrate life on a tropical cacao farm, a free chocolate bar made by Jim and Keli, and tastings of different types of chocolate as well as raw cacao beans.
Keli Fine and Jim Carouba bought a 100-acre farm with a 17-acre cacao plantation (“The Chocolate Farm”) in 2007 and have been wrapped up in a whirlwind of learning about cacao, agriculture in a tropical climate, and making chocolate. Their farm is located in Costa Rica near the southern border with Panama. Life is lived according to old rhythms in this part of the country where most people grow their own rice, beans and corn and ride horses to get around.
COST: $35 includes tastings and a free chocolate bar.
WHEN: Sunday, December 15th from 4-6pm.
